We are a one income family by choice. We have figured out that we save quite a bit in child care and gas by me staying home but we are still struggling with making ends meet. So I have recently begun my journey down this frugal road that I have chosen. I know you are probably thinking extreme cheapskate but this is not the case. As you know or not we are a family of four with the prospects of having one or two more when money permits. I have already started making changes around the house from homemade laundry detergent to cooking from scratch instead of buying prepackaged foods that cost more. I also started buying groceries once a month so that I can buy in bulk which can be cheaper. I have also signed up to be part of a January money diet in which one cuts all extra expenses for a month. My goal is to get us debt free within the next two years. we have picked up extra dept the last year from my not working and my husband losing his job. He now has a meager income that will get bigger over the next few months as he transfer to a permanent position which will bring in a raise. I have started looking for new ways to save at home to cut back and to be able to save for the things we really want in life such as a house to call our own with room for a garden and and another child or so. I have recently been inspired by the Duggars and how they work together to keep such a large family going and running smoothly. Not that I in anyway want to have 20 children but a few more would be nice. I am planning several things this year to help eliminate our debt and to save for our desired goals. I am looking forward to this new journey in my life as my husband and I approach a point in our marriage and in life where we want to really settle down and bring everything together to accomplish our overall goal for life.
